Since my very early childhood I had a desire and passion to work with animals and at a very young age I was already sure about my future career. Veterinary science and –medicine was forever my only choice and option! My dream became a reality in 1988 when I was selected and given the opportunity to start my academic career. I graduated in 1996 from the University of Pretoria and have been living my dream in private practice ever since.
I fell in love with the African Bushveld during a holiday on a private game reserve in the Waterberg region where a new passion was born….birds, trees and wildlife! I then started working towards another goal, my own game farm. This came true in 2011 and since then I have been farming with game and wildlife as well as working as a wildlife vet in the Vaalwater region.
I am daily thankful for the opportunities I have and consider myself extremely blessed to be able to live my childhood dream and passion. Not only do I get the opportunity to work with a variety of wonderful animal species, I also get to see some of the most beautiful places in nature…often far off the beaten track. Having said all of that, my biggest blessing is the amazing and wonderful people of our truly amazing country that I get the opportunity to work for and with.
It would have been selfish to keep all of this to myself and I have started a few years ago to give like-minded veterinary- and prospective veterinary students the opportunity to work with me in order to gain some much needed practical experience.
